METLIFE AUTO & HOME TO INTRODUCE DEDUCTIBLE SAVINGS BENEFIT TO MASSACHUSETTS AUTO INSURANCE CUSTOMERS

MetLife Auto & Home, one of the top five personal auto insurers in the commonwealth of Massachusetts, announced that it has received approval from the Division of Insurance to offer a Deductible Savings Benefit (DSB) to its Massachusetts customers. This benefit will be provided at no additional cost to all new and existing automobile, motorcycle, and motor home policies, as of September 15, 2008.

Under the benefit, customers will have the opportunity to earn a $50 credit toward their Comprehensive or Collision deductible at each 12-month anniversary if no claim payment was made within the year, up to a maximum accrued credit of $250. Existing customers who already have a policy with MetLife Auto & Home will immediately be able to take advantage of DSB, and will receive their first $50 credit effective upon their policy renewal after October 20, 2008, provided that they were loss-free for the previous 12-month period.

This product enhancement makes MetLife Auto & Home one of the first property and casualty insurers to introduce this “good driving” incentive into the state. MetLife Auto & Home, which has developed a reputation for product innovation, has been offering the Deductible Savings Benefit to auto insurance customers in 36 other states, and was able to introduce the benefit in Massachusetts as a result of the recent decision by the state to transition into a managed competition environment.
“We’re proud to offer this product innovation to our Massachusetts auto customers,” said Bill Moore, president of MetLife Auto & Home. “MetLife Auto & Home is committed to removing, whenever possible, coverage gaps and many of the surprises that both auto and home insurance customers face when filing claims. The Deductible Savings Benefit is a great way to reward good drivers and will also help to eliminate some of the out-of-pocket expenses that most customers face in the event that the unexpected occurs.”

MetLife Auto & Home was also among the first insurers to offer a product enhancement in the Commonwealth, with the addition of Identify Theft resolution services at no additional charge in October of 2007. Since that time, the company has also introduced components of its popular Auto Advantage program, such as replacement cost for a total loss to a new vehicle within the first year or 15,000 miles from the purchase of the vehicle, enhanced rental car damage coverage, and replacement cost for special parts—such as batteries, tires, shocks, and electrical parts.
